PEOPLE battling blood cancer will attend a special event this week.
Middlesbrough’s James Cook University Hospital is giving patients suffering from myeloma the opportunity to discuss their experiences and access support and advice on Tuesday, November 22.
Organisers Laura Barlow, a cancer care co-ordinator at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and cancer nurse specialist Helen Walker hope to encourage patients to access complementary therapy and wellbeing services available at the hospital.
Ms Barlow said: “November is Myeloma Awareness Month - myeloma is one of the lesser known blood cancers and we wanted to arrange an event that allows patients to come together to talk to each other and also talk to professionals and get signed up to sources of support.”
- Anyone across Teesside with myeloma or caring for someone with the cancer can attend the event at the Haematology Day Unit between 10am and 3pm.
