A THREE car crash took place on the northbound carriageway of the A19 on Teesside on Saturday morning - but one vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
The incident happened near the Acklam turn off at about 9.45am and involved Volkswagen, Honda and Fiat cars.
The Honda was left facing the wrong way on the inside lane, while the Fiat suffered extensive damage to one side.
Queuing traffic passes the scene
Officers from Cleveland and Durham Roads Policing Unit, who attended the scene, said the driver of the Honda was lucky to escape uninjured having spun off the road and into the safety barrier.
The third vehicle, a black VW Passat, failed to stop at the scene.
An RPU spokesperson said: "With witnesses providing the registration number it's only a matter of time before we catch up with the driver."
