A TEENAGER is recovering in hospital after being found unconscious on wasteland at the rear of a school.

The 15-year-old was unresponsive when ambulance staff located the youth near Unity City Academy on Ormesby Road, Middlesbrough, at 6.20pm on Tuesday night.

The boy was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he remains in a ‘conscious and stable’ condition.

A spokesman for Unity City Academy confirmed that the teenager is not a student at the secondary school.

Officers cordoned off the area while an investigation takes place to establish what happened prior to the boy being treated by ambulance staff.

Detective Inspector Jon Tapper, from Cleveland Police Major Crime Team, said: “Ambulance staff contacted police after a member of the public called them to report an unconscious male on wasteland on Ormesby Road.

"We are now investigating the circumstances leading up to him being found and we would appeal for anyone with information to contact us.”
