HUNDREDS of runners took on the colour run challenge to raise vital funds for Teesside Hospice.

Middlesbrough's Stewart Park was awash with the colours of the rainbow during Sunday's fundraising event.

Amongst the people taking part were a team from Charles Clinkard who were taking part in memory of the brother of one of the firm's warehouse staff.

John Butterfield, 47, lost his brother David to cancer recently and was determined to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

“The care at the hospice was exceptional and the staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure David was cared for - which was a comfort to all of his family,” he said.

The popular style of event attracted people from around the region to take on the 5k run through the park in aid of the hospice.
