POLICE have released an e-fit of a man they are trying to trace following a burglary in Middlesbrough.

The white male, aged about 28 years old, entered a home on Chestnut Drive and was challenged by the occupant.

The intruder then made off on to Cypress Road empty-handed.

The suspect is described as being of slim or athletic build, 5ft9ins to 5ft 10ins tall with dark brown hair.

He had very short hair on the sides and longer on the top. The man is also described as having a square-shaped face.

It is believed he may have had an accomplice called "Jonny".

Officers would like to speak to the man in the E-fit as it is believed that he may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Louise Sproson, from Middlesbrough Volume Crime Team, said: “To disturb an intruder in your own home is very unnerving and distressing.

"We are issuing the e-fit as part of our ongoing investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DS Louise Sproson on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
