AN MP is calling for action after it was announced that a medical centre in his constituency was due to close at the end of the month. Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP Tom Blenkinsop said Hemlington Medical Centre us been forced to close after the local NHS Clinical Commissioning Group could not find anyone to run the service in Middlesbrough. The MP, who will be raising the issue when Parliament reconvenes, said: “This is a sad end to a long fight to keep GP services in Hemlington. After securing an extension to the existing contract this is a hard blow to the thousands of Hemlington residents who use the centre."
