AN organisation that runs educational and social sessions for retired and semi-retired people is calling on new members to sign up and celebrate its 10th anniversary.

The U3A is an international organisation run by its members to offer social and learning for pleasure opportunities, with many branches across the North-East.

The Middlesbrough U3A is celebrating its 10th birthday this year and wants to reach out to people who have just retired or may have been retired for some time but are looking for new interests.

The branch is holding an open day showcasing some of the groups it runs such as walking, history, cinema, gardening and a lunch club.

All are welcome to attend the open day on September 22 between 1.30pm and 3.30pm in the Linthorpe community centre in Linthorpe Village, Middlesbrough.

For those not able to attend, there are monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of the month at 2pm in St Barnabas Church, also in Linthorpe Village.
