DETECTIVES have released images of apparent arson damage that led to the death of two pet dogs and 20 pigeons.

As reported in today's (Monday, July 25) Northern Echo, the alleged arson attack took place at a smallholding site at South Bank, Middlesbrough, in the early hours of Saturday.

Three vehicles were set on fire with the fire spreading to a nearby dog run which contained 20 pigeons and two family pet dogs.

One of the dogs was a five-year-old Husky named Skye and the other was a small Terrier named Pippa and they both died in the fire along with the pigeons.

The family have been left devastated by the attack and police have released the images as part of an appeal for information.

*A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
