AN ART school undergoing a restructure last night said just three jobs were being made redundant as part of a planned restructure.
Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD), which has sites in Hartlepool and Middlesbrough, said there were ten positions “at risk”, but seven positions for staff to reapply for.
A spokeswoman said: “CCAD is in outstanding financial health, but to stay that way and ensure we meet the needs of our current and future students, we regularly review our staffing.
“In this case ten people have been issued at risk notices but have the opportunity to apply for seven jobs.
“We are working with the University and College Union and have agreed a number of ways in which the impact of this is softened and to avoid compulsory redundancies.”
The UCU will meet with management again on June 28 to discuss the plans.
The University and College Union (UCU) had condemned the college for failing to consult properly and staff being given only three days to reapply for jobs, but the deadline has now been extended.
