A SERVICE to honour fallen police officers is being held in Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Iain Spittal, temporary chief constable of Cleveland Police, is inviting the public to a memorial service to honour former officers and staff.

A roll of memorial will be included in the service, in memory of all officers, staff, special constables and volunteers who have died while serving, or while employed by, Cleveland Police, including anyone who was on secondment from the police.

Those who have died within the last five years will be remembered by name during the service.

The memorial is held at 4pm at St Martin’s Church on Whinney Banks Road, off Acklam Road, in Middlesbrough and is expected to last about an hour, with refreshments provided afterwards.
