BEER lovers can enjoy a tipple while supporting their local mountain rescue team after a 'Name the Ale' challenge was launched.

The King’s Head Inn, Newton-under-Roseberry has teamed up with Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team to help raise funds for the charity.

The new ale will then take pride of place on the bar and a donation of 5p per pint will then be made to Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team from every pint sold.

Pete Mounsey, of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, said: “We are always very grateful for any fundraising activity to help support our organisation. We are regulars at The King’s Head Inn and follow our weekly training sessions at Roseberry Topping with a visit to the pub. We are delighted that they have come up with the great idea to help support our work. It will not only raise funds but also raise awareness about our activities in this area.”

Paul Brown, General Manager at The King’s Head Inn said: “Many of our customers are walkers and cyclists who regularly enjoy the outdoors at North Yorks Moors and especially Roseberry Topping, before enjoying a drink or a meal or staying here at The King’s Head Inn. We hope not only to raise vital funds for Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team but also have a permanent reminder on the bar of the work that they do for us.”

To enter people simply need to choose a name that has a connection to the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team and The King’s Head Inn.

Then complete an entry form, available online or in the pub and take it to The King’s Head Inn with a £1 donation to Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team. Closing date May 29.
