COVETED places to take part in the Great North Run are up for grabs after a charity secured more places than expected.

Teesside Hospice is offering people the chance to take on the challenge while raising vital funds for the charity.

Leanne Irvine, the charity's community fundraiser, said “We are lucky enough to have secured three times more places at this year’s Great North Run. Additional support at this amazing event is going to have a huge impact on our hospice and the care that we deliver to patients and their families.

“We would love for anybody interested in becoming a part of Team Teesside Hospice to get in touch and find out more about the event. Not only that, but by choosing to run at this iconic half marathon for Teesside Hospice, you will helping us care for local people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses.”

To run for the charity, the registration fee is £53 and the minimum sponsorship is £300. Once registered people will receive a training top, a fundraising pack, sponsor forms, a personalised fundraising page and support along the way.

Fr the first time the charity will have its own marquee in the Charity Village at the Great North Run, where runners can go and refuel after crossing the finishing line.
