BORO fans showed their support tonight for BBC commentator Alistair Brownlee who is battling bowel cancer.
Match Report: Middlesbrough 0Â Everton 2
Dubbed "The Voice of the Boro", Brownlee has commented on games home and away for 33 years - so it was fitting fans at the Riverside paid tribute to him in the 33rd minute of the televised Capital One Cup match against Everton.
Supporters lit up their phones, applauded and sung 'Ali Brownlee, he's one of our own'Â throughout the stadium.
He has been diagnosed with cancer of the lower bowel and starts chemotherapy treatment shortly.
After the show of support, he tweeted: "Yet again @Boro fans you have reduced me to tears. May the light that shone at the Riverside shine on all going through their battles. Thanks."
