AN environmental project in Middlesbrough is campaigning for the votes that will help it secure a much needed funding boost.
Easterside Partnership is hoping to secure enough support to land a £12,500 grant from the Marks and Spencer Community Energy Fund.
If successful, the project will see the installation of solar panels and LED lighting at the community centre and shops, improving both energy efficiency and safety.
The scheme is one of seven across the North East hoping to secure the public’s backing and receive the grant.
Dennis Reeves, Warmer Homes project officer with Middlesbrough Environment City which is leading the initiative, said: “The support’s been fantastic so far and we are in the lead, but we still need as many votes as possible if we are to secure this important grant.
“The money will enable us to install solar panels and LED lighting at the Community Hub, and these will also help to power the CCTV cameras.
“The scheme will reduce energy costs and make the centre more efficient and effective for the local community.”
