AN 11-YEAR-OLD girl is in hospital with serious head injuries after being hit by a car on Saturday night.
The incident took place on Ladgate Lane near to Overdale Road in Middlesbrough at 6.25pm.
Police said the collision involved the girl and a black Chevrolet Spark.
She was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious head injuries, and officers are providing support to her family.
No-one else was injured in the collision.
The road was closed while investigations took place into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Witnesses are asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
