A BUSINESSWOMAN is hoping to track down her stolen stock after her shop was burgled just days after it opened.

Lisa Robinson lost thousands of pounds worth of goods, including little knitted hats, lacy socks and blankets, when thieves smashed their way into her new babywear shop Sweet Nothings in South Bank, near Middlesbrough.

The shop, which opened last Monday, was raided by burglars between Thursday night and Friday morning.

The 49-year-old said it was “heartbreaking” to see the damage to her shop and how much of her handmade baby clothes were taken.

And she can’t help looking in baby’s prams to see if they’re wearing one of her stolen hats or pairs of socks and is asking everyone to keep an eye out for the stolen stock.

“My husband Mark and I have sat down and worked out it must have been £3,500 worth of stock,” said the mother-of-three, from Normanby.

“I had done £250 worth of orders which were taken and there were at least 50 pom pom blankets.”

She said making just one pom pom blanket takes her two to three days and she had spent thousands of hours making all the stock ready for the shop to open.

Burglars made their way into the shop by hammering through an exterior wall in the back yard of a neighbouring property and coming through next door’s wall.

Cleveland Police are investigating the break-in and are urging anyone with information to call 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
