SOME golden oldies turned out to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the TFM radio station.
Organised by former employees, Richard Kell and BBC Tees presenter John Foster, the evening gave people the chance to reminisce about the first song to be broadcast on the station on June 24, 1975 - Everything's Tuesday by Chairman of the Board.
Among the notable guests at the event were Sally Aitchison, recent MBE, recalled her days starting out on reception to MD of TFM/Metro and now MD of the Bauer Radio Charity, 'cash for kids', and Brian Lister, the former programme director at the station.
John Foster said: "As a kid growing up in Middlesbrough I remember listening to Tees and was captured by it. I remember buying my t-shirt from Sally, who would later employ me to host, what was the biggest radio show in the area. To sit in that studio on Dovecot Street and do my very first show was just amazing. I can still remember everything about it; even down to the smell of the building. I was very lucky and I'm sure everyone who worked in commercial radio when it was in Teesside feels the same."
