AN elderly woman has been robbed in her own home in Middlesbrough.
The 98-year-old was attacked at an address on Ayresome Street at around 5.30pm on Sunday, May 31.
The victim was confronted in the property by a man who then attacked her, leaving her with minor injuries. The man then made off with a small amount of cash. The victim was not taken to hospital but received care after an ambulance was called.
Detective Sergeant Gerard Wraith, from Middlesbrough Volume Crime Team, said: “This was an appalling attack on an elderly and vulnerable woman who has been left traumatised and shaken by what has happened. Anyone with information that may be able to help us trace the suspect is asked to contact police on 101.”
The offender is described as male, around 5ft 5ins tall, slim to medium build and is believed to be aged in his twenties.
