POLICE have renewed an appeal for help to track down the killer of a Middlesbrough teenager on the 13th anniversary of her disappearance.

Rachel Wilson went missing 13 years ago and her remains were discovered in a drainage ditch on farmland on the outskirts of her hometown a little over a decade later.

The 19-year-old's family have made repeated appeals over the years in an attempt to find their daughter's killer and Cleveland Police continue to work on the investigation.

Rachel, a known sex worker, was one of three young women who went missing from the town in a four-year period.

Donna Keogh was 17 when she disappeared in 1998 from Hartington Road, near the Shipmate pub, in Middlesbrough town centre.

Vicky Glass’s body was found in a shallow grave on the North York Moors in November 2000, two months after she vanished.

No-one has ever been charged in connection with any of the disappearances or murders.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "As we reach the 13th anniversary of Rachel Wilson's disappearance on May 31, 2002, and the third anniversary of the discovery of her remains on June 27, 2012, Cleveland Police are still investigating her death.

"Rachel was last seen in the Southfield Road area of Middlesbrough at 7.02 am on the morning of Friday, May 31, 2002. She was 19-years-old at this time.

"Her friends and family reported her missing and a murder enquiry that lasted for over 18 months failed to find her or her killer.

"On June 27, 2012, Rachel’s remains were found on farmland just outside the Coulby Newham area of Middlesbrough. A murder investigation was launched and a team of 20 detectives were deployed to this enquiry and continue to investigate it.

"A man was arrested in 2014 and he is still on police bail."

Detectives continue to urge friends and associates to come forward with any information, regardless of how insignificant they think it may be, as they hope it could be the small piece of evidence that could unlock the investigation.

If anyone has any information regarding this investigation they are encouraged to contact Cleveland Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where their information can be left anonymously.
