A HAMMER-WIELDING hooded man robbed cigarettes and money from an ice van yesterday.THUR,MAY28

The armed robbery happened at about 2.30pm on Kirkland Walk, Park End, Middlesbrough when a teenage man with a scarf wrapped around his face entered the van through the side window.

He threatened the driver with a hammer before filling a bag with cigarettes, grabbing cash and making off in the direction of Overdale Road.

The suspect is described as white, in his teens and around 5ft 8ins tall and was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, grey tracksuit bottoms and a scarf covering his mouth and face.

Cleveland Police are keen to speak to a woman who was at the ice cream van at the time of the incident.
