POLICE investigating how a dog was killed and a boy injured has concluded no crime was committed.

On social media Bev Brown claimed the driver of a white van or Nissan Qashqai hit her son, and ran over her dog, outside Tesco on Acklam Road, before driving off on Tuesday morning.

Her son suffered minor facial injuries.

However, police have ruled out a criminal investigation as the driver of the vehicle contacted them immediately after the incident.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Police have spoken to the driver of the vehicle who reported the incident immediately, as well as a number of witnesses who had also contacted police.

“Having received numerous calls from witnesses, officers were quickly able to confirm that the vehicle did not collide with the child, however, it did collide with a dog after it became loose and ran into the road. Sadly, the dog later died of its injuries.

“A full investigation has been conducted and no criminal offences have taken place, therefore there will be no further police action.”
