A MAN was taken to hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation after a fire at a terraced house in Middlesbrough.
Cleveland fire brigade were called to Surrey Street at 10.35pm and sent two engines from Middlesbrough and one from the Marine fire station.
A spokeswoman said the fire involved an electric socket. There was light smoke damage to the first floor.
The injured man suffered burns to his hands. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The spokeswoman said smoke alarms were fitted at the house and were working on arrival.
