RUNNERS taking part in a re-routed race will be rewarded with new views of some of the town’s striking landmarks.

This year's Cleveland Centre 5K Riverside Run will not travel down Lower East, Gray or Commercial Streets, but will instead take in Shepherdson Way, giving runners a fantastic view of the Transporter Bridge and Temenos before they enter the Riverside Stadium.

The 5k is ideal for at runners, walkers and charity fundraisers of all ages and abilities.

Race director Scott Hydon said: “As the runners come along Shepherdson Way, they can soak up some fantastic views with the finishing line almost in sight.

“They’ll be treated to a stunning panorama that encapsulates everything that makes Middlesbrough great, from its iconic landmarks to the new developments that are shaping the town’s future.

“That’s a fitting backdrop for the Riverside Run, which is an ideal event for beginners, and is also a great opportunity for charity fundraisers to raise much needed cash for good causes.”

The run will have an entry limit of 2,000 runners and entries to the event will close on Wednesday, May 20 or when the 2,000 runner limit is reached.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, May 31, alongside the South Tees CCG 2k Fun Run.

Application forms are available at venues across the town and entries can be submitted online at www.runmiddlesbrough.com
