A STUDENT who collected more than 1,000 advent calendars for charity is hoping to repeat the trick with Easter Eggs.

Teesside University student Lauri Cox, 27, is hoping to make a difference to the lives of needy children.

She said: “I started doing this at Christmas, and wanted to collect 50 advent calendars for under-privileged kids.

"It surpassed all my expectations when I ended up collecting over 1,000.

"I’m hoping for something similar over Easter. You can pick up an Easter egg for £1, and a child who may otherwise not have one could benefit.”

Lauri, from Acklam, explained how her grandmother, who passed away last September, inspired her charity crusades.

She added: “My grandma was a social worker across the North-East for over 30 years and I wanted to continue helping the children of her area in her memory, even if it was just something small like an Easter egg or calendar.

"I’m giving the eggs to Know Your Money in Middlesbrough. I love the work that they do, supporting local families who don’t have much and just need a helping hand.”

Cash to buy Easter Eggs may be donated through Paypal at lauri-cox@hotmail.co.uk where she can also be contacted to pick up donations in person.

Alternatively, eggs may be dropped off at Pixie’s Diner, 176 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 3RB.
