MEMBERS of the public are being asked for their views on a new park in Nunthorpe.

Senior Middlesbrough councillors will attend the latest consultation event on the proposals tomorrow (Tuesday February 17), and are urging local people to have their say.

Three hectares of land to the south of Guisborough Road are set to be developed as a public open space as part of the town’s recently adopted Housing Local Plan.

The outdoor amenity, equipment and facilities will be funded through money from the nearby Grey Towers Village housing development.

Local ward Councillors Brenda Thompson and Peter Sanderson will visit the site at 9.30am with by deputy mayor Dave Budd and executive member for regeneration Cllr Charlie Rooney.

They will then attend the latest consultation event which runs from 10am to 12.30pm at Nunthorpe Methodist Church, on the corner of Marton Moor Road and Connaught Road.

Cllr Thompson said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to create a new open space in Nunthorpe, so it’s vital that local people are involved at every stage of the process.

“Residents, local councillors and Middlesbrough Council have worked closely over the last few months to draw up an exciting scheme, and we now want to hear as many people’s views as possible on it.”

Drop-in sessions are being held every Tuesday throughout February between 10am and 12.30pm at Nunthorpe Methodist Church.

A joint parish and community council drop-in session will be held in the Brunton Suite at the Nunthorpe Institute on Monday, February 16 from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Ward councillor surgeries will held at the Nunthorpe Institute on Mondays throughout February from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
