A COMMUNITY speed watch campaign spotted seven drivers exceeding the limit during a two hour period.

Officers from Gresham Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out the high profile initiative on Parliament Road, Middlesbrough, between 9am and 11am.

The officers and members of the community were using a mobile speed recording device to highlight the issues raised by local people regarding concerns about speeding in the area with the emphasis being very much on education rather than prosecution.

PC Martin Lindsley said: “We have listened to the issues raised by the members of the community and have this morning used the Community Speedwatch initiative to educate drivers as to the 20mph speed limit on the road. More signs will be put in place to highlight the speed limit and we will continue the good work in the area.”
