A CAR dealer caught doing 112 miles an hour on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire has been banned from driving for 56 days.
Joseph Elcoate, 30 of Southbank, Middlesbrough, was driving a BMW near Dishforth on the northbound carriageway of the A1 in October last year when a police officer recorded his speed.
Northallerton Magistrates' Court was told Elcoate, who admitted speeding, had two previous speeding offences and nine points on his licence.
Defending, Nick Woodhouse said Elcoate bought and sold cars and had been at an auction in Pontefract where he bought the BMW, but he had not been concentrating when driving back and had not realised that his speed had crept up.
He was also ordered to pay £305 in costs and fines.
