TWO men were forced to jump to safety after fire broke out in a flat on Saturday. DEC13
The fire took hold at the flat on Fulbeck Road, Netherfields, Middlesbrough shortly before midnight and the 56-year-old flat holder and his 54-year-old friend had to jump to safety through a bedroom window.
Firefighters are investigating the cause of the fire which eventually took hold in the loft. The downstairs flat was unoccupied at the time.
Three fire appliances attended and firefighters were at the scene for an hour-and-a-half. A spokeswoman for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: “One man was given oxygen for smoke inhalation at the scene, but was not taken to hospital.
“There was fire damage to the fascias and roof of the property, and smoke damage to the flat itself.”
Two appliances from Grangetown and one from Middlesbrough used two hose reels, four breathing apparatus and a thermal camera.
