A HORSE-RIDING charity for disabled people have been able to buy a much-needed saddle thanks to a £500 donation.
The Unicorn Centre in Hemlington, Middlesbrough, was given the money by property developers Taylor Wimpey which is currently building homes at Rose Cottage Farm in Stainton, near to the Unicorn Centre.
Claire Pitt, manager at the Unicorn Centre, said: “In order to provide a safe and supportive environment for our members, we are dependent on committed volunteers and local businesses, such as Taylor Wimpey, who can ensure we have the best equipment.
“Saddles can be really expensive, and this £500 donation has been a massive help.”
The Unicorn Centre opened in 1998 and offers riding therapy in addition to learning and training opportunities to over 200 individuals every week.
Debbie Whittingham, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, said: “The Unicorn Centre is a remarkable charity that we are proud to be associated with.
“Our Rose Cottage Farm development is now a key part of the Stainton community, and with so many fantastic volunteers in the area, we wanted to help in any way we could.”
