TWIN Peaks director, David Lynch, is being honoured by a North-East art gallery which is inviting fans to come dressed as their favourite characters to the launch night.

Links between objects and their names in film, photography, drawings, watercolours, painting and prints from 1968 will be explored in the exhibition at Mima in Middlesbrough.

His film and television credits includes Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive and the iconic Twin Peaks but he is also famed for his fine art work.

David Lynch Naming is being shown at the modern art gallery in Centre Square from December 12 to March 26, 2015.

The free opening event on Friday, December 12, from 6pm to 10pm will feature access to the exhibition, performances and cocktails inspired by the American surrealist.

Guests are invited to come dressed as their favourite David Lynch character to be in with a chance of winning a prize.
