A YOB who kicked and stamped on the head of his former partner and later attacked her mother as she tried to intervene in another assault has been jailed for nine months.

Christopher Pinchbeck admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm on May 3 and breaching a non-molestation order taken out by the woman.

He also pleaded guilty to theft after stealing a purse belonging to her containing £77 which had been intended to be spent on his own child’s birthday.

The 20-year-old, who had been drinking, attacked the victim as she was curled up on the ground, Teesside Crown Court was told.

Pinchbeck, of Somerset Road, Grangetown, Middlesbrough, later grabbed his former partner by her throat after she had fled to her mother’s home and punched and kicked her body.

When her mother tried to pull him off her daughter, he pushed her causing her to hit her head on a fireplace and also threw a television remote control at her face, causing a cut.

He also threw a child’s scooter through a window, causing £100 damage.

Prosecuting, Sue Jacobs said it had been a “sustained and repeated attack” by Pinchbeck, who has previous convictions for common assault and criminal damage.

Jonny Walker, mitigating, said: “It is clear that a jealous streak coupled with his alcohol intake precipitated this offence.”

Recorder Simon Phillips told Pinchbeck: “You are old enough to know that behaviour of this nature is entirely intolerable.”

Pinchbeck was also given a fresh three year restraining order and told not to come with 100 metres of the homes of the victim and her mother.
