THREE men have been arrested as police launch a week-long crackdown on suspected criminals on a Middlesbrough estate.

Cleveland Police executed a number of arrest warrants on Monday as well tackling anti-social behaviour in the Gresham area.

As well as drug warrants there will be intensive street cleaning taking place all week, with input from from Cleveland Fire Brigade, Middlesbrough Council's community enforcement officers, trading standards, probation service and environmental health officers.

Inspector Kath Vickers, who coordinated the Week of Action, said: “The activity should reassure residents that we take their concerns extremely seriously and that we will do all we can to tackle issues which can spoil the quality of life for the majority of law abiding people.”

Throughout the week, officers will park up a command cabin as a single point of contact for residents who wish to raise any concerns or pass on information on criminal or anti-social behaviour in confidence.
