A CHARITY dinner to raise money for head and neck cancer patients across the region is being hosted by BBC breakfast presenter Steph McGovern.

The work of the Look a Head Cancer Campaign is being celebrated at the Thistle Hotel, Fry Street, Middlesbrough on Thursday, November 27.

The group raises awareness in the Tees Valley, South Durham and North Yorkshire.

Richard Wight, Look A Head chairman and head and neck consultant at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, said: “We are delighted Steph is joining us for our fundraising evening and we much appreciate her help with our campaign.

“Early treatment can save lives and we are committed to educating the public and health professionals about head and neck cancer and to encourage people with suspicious symptoms to get checked out as soon as possible.”

Entertainment at the charity evening compered by Ms McGovern, who is from Middlesbrough, includes blues band ACME Blues Company, InaSpin roadshow disco, close up magic from local magicians from Darlington Magic Circle and there will be a raffle and an auction.

Tickets for the event which starts at 7pm costs £35 per person to include a three course set meal.
