A WOMAN was left with serious injuries following a crash involving a motorbike on Sunday.

The 41-year-old was the pillion passenger on a bike being ridden along the A689 Westbound in Hartlepool at around 3pm on Sunday, June 10.

Police say she came off the bike as a result of a collision and was taken to Middlesbrough’s James Cook University hospital for treatment to significant injuries to her hand, feet, arms and pelvis.

The North East Air Ambulance Service flew to the scene but the woman was taken to hospital via ambulance.

The 39-year-old who was riding the bike has been arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving but has been released under investigation.

Cleveland Police are now appealing for witnesses who saw the Yamaha bike prior to the collision to come forward and assist with their enquiries.
