A CAR overturned and smashed into school railings, trapping its driver, as pupils left school for the day.
Darlington Police were called out at about 4.05pm on Thursday after reports a car had overturned outside Mowden Infant and Junior Schools, on Fulthorpe Avenue, Darlington.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue was also called out to help free the driver from his vehicle.
He was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and released later that day, a police spokeswoman said.
There is not understood to be any police investigation into the incident.
