A HOSPICE will collect Christmas trees after this year’s festivities come to an end in a bid to raise funds for the region’s residents with life-limiting illnesses.
Teesside Hospice will collect trees from households covering TS1 to TS23 postcodes, picking up the spruces in a return for a donation to the facility.
Six Northgate Vehicle Hire van will be used for the scheme to be run by volunteers from January 5 to January 7.
The trees will be chipped and recycled by Askham Bryan College to be used in the paddocks and gardens for paths in Middlesbrough’s Stewart Park.
Askham Bryan’s Nick Barnes said: “It’s brilliant that the collected Christmas trees will be recycled and used within Stewart Park to enhance the Park, a fantastic local area that will directly benefit from this scheme, we hope everyone gets behind this appeal.”
