A BOXER is swapping the North East for Las Vegas as she gears up to appear on the undercard of one of the most hotly anticipated nights in the sport's history – Mayweather vs. McGregor on Saturday night.

Super middleweight Savannah Marshall will face Amy Coleman in her first professional fight tonight.

The 26-year-old, who is the UK's first ever women's amateur World Champion and has been boxing since she was 12 years old, said: “It doesn’t seem real, it really doesn’t.

"I’ve never been to Vegas before, to be visiting for my first time to fight on such an enormous stage is amazing."

The former World, European and Commonwealth champion attended Hartlepool College of FE from 2008, and recently finished a BTEC in sport, returned to hand over one of her Olympic vests as a way of saying thank you.

The fighter, who plans to move to Las Vegas for four years to launch her professional career, said: “I only want to do it for four or five years because it is hard. It’s really physically and mentally demanding."
