PRIZE-WINNING young musicians will showcase their talents in a celebration of music next month.

Hartlepool will celebrate the musical talents of its young people with an evening of live music on Saturday, September 16.

The event will feature performances from those who have been awarded prizes from the town’s Preston, Simpson and Sterndale Young Musicians Trust.

The trust, now marking its 100th anniversary, provides financial support to allow Hartlepool youngsters aged 15 to 25 to develop their musical talents.

A Celebration of Music will be held at the Town Hall Theatre, with those taking to the stage set to include cellist Neil Sild, saxophonist Amber Reeve and vocalist Amy Napper.

A selection of primary school choirs will also perform.

Chris Simmons, Chair of the Preston Simpson & Sterndale Trust, said: “We have a rich talent of young musicians in Hartlepool and it is so important to nurture and support them to reach their full potential.

“Many of the musicians who receive support from the Trust are already performing to a professional standard and along with the five primary school choirs performing a fantastic night of music is in store.”

The show starts at 7pm and tickets cost £4. Children under 16 are free with adults. To book tickets, call 01429 890000.
