A HARTLEPOOL primary school is a step away from walking out at Wembley.

Seaton Carew’s Holy Trinity Church of England Primary will represent Hartlepool United in the EFL Kids’ Cup Northern Final at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday, March 8.

The talented bunch moved through to the next stage after winning the HUFC Foundation round of the competition at Hartlepool’s Victoria Park when they beat Wolviston Primary 5-1 in December.

Oliver Duthie hit four that day with Gene Steels grabbing the other. There have also been key contributions from Evan Newbegin, James Mullender, Matthew Purdy, Ben Pattison, Joe Lane, Oliver Long, Rhys Greig and Cieron Veart.

If Holy Trinity – which has recently been awarded the Gold School Mark for Sport - can progress from the tough next round then they will reach the EFL Kids Cup Final which will take place at Wembley in May.

Holy Trinity's senior curriculum lead Jonathan Bull, the team's coach, said: “I am proud of the way that the children have approached their football this year. Our style of football is fantastic and the teamwork in the group is amazing. Hopefully we can keep going, it’s been brilliant to watch.”
