DEPRAVED murderer Gareth Dack has been moved to a high-security prison which houses some of the country's most vile inmates.

The killer of 'supermum' Norma Bell made the switch to HMP Frankland in County Durham, The Northern Echo can reveal.

Dack, 33, had been held on remand at HMP Holme House in Stockton since his arrest last April, and his conviction last week.

He was found guilty of murdering 79-year-old Mrs Bell and setting fire to her home while stealing from her to buy crack cocaine.

Mrs Bell had three sons as well as six long-term foster children who called her mum and had fostered more than 50 others.

Trial judge, Mrs Justice Whipple, said Dack had used "extreme force" in strangling the widow in what she said was "a terrible crime".

Porn addict Dack used the house telephone to call Babestation adult chat-lines while his victim lay dead or dying just yards away.

The Teesside Crown Court trial heard how Dack had cut Mrs Bell's lower clothing, possibly in a "perverted" attempt to remove it.

He was jailed for a minimum of 33 years last Thursday, and his transfer to the Category A prison has been planned since then.

Now he will be among the country's most notorious terrorists, murderers and rapists at the top-security jail in near Durham City.

Because of the nature of his sickening crime, it is feared that Dack could become a target of some of the other 800 inmates.

In 2010, Soham murderer Ian Huntley has his throat slashed by psychopathic prisoner Damien Fowkes with a makeshift weapon.

A year later, Nathan Mann and Michael Parr disemboweled Mitchell Harrison, 23, who was serving time for raping a 13-year-old girl.

Last August, Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe was moved from a maximum security hospital to the prison after a tribunal ruled he was sane.

Another inmate is Charles Bronson - known as the “most violent prisoner in Britain” - who has spent time in jails across the country.

During his time in Frankland, Bronson took the deputy governor hostage. He has also spent time at nearby HMP Durham.

Evil school caretaker Huntley murdered ten-year-old girls, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, in their home town in Cambridgeshire.

His then girlfriend, Maxine Carr, provided Huntley with a false alibi and was jailed for perverting the course of justice.

Notorious double killer Michael Stone, who battered Lin Russell and her daughters Megan and Josie with a hammer, is doing life there.

Lin, 45, and six-year-old Megan were killed in Kent in 1996, but Josie, then aged nine, survived and went on to make a full recovery.

Ironically, the man Stone - who has always protested his innocence - says could be the killer is fellow Frankland inmate Levi Bellfield.

The Millie Dowler murderer used a hammer to beat to death two other victims - Marsha McDonnell, 19, and Amelie Delagrange, 22.

Michael Adebolajo is serving life at Frankland for the sickening murder - along with Michael Adebowale - of Fusilier Lee Rigby.

A source said: "There is a hierarchy within the cons in every prison, and those who target the elderly are among those at the bottom.

"Sex offenders are segregated for their own safety, because they are probably the most despised by other inmates.

"Dack could well be a marked man. Others - even the most violent and vile criminals - will be appalled by his crimes."

A Ministry of Justice spokesman refused to comment.
