A MAN is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder following a vicious assault that left another man fighting for his life.
The 56-year-old victim was found with serious head injuries at a house in Rydal Street, Hartlepool at around 10.43pm on Friday night.
He was taken to James Cook University hospital where he is in a critical condition.
Police, who believe the attack may be linked to an earlier incident at St Oswalds Street in the town, made two arrests shortly after the attack.
A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder while a 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault.
