NOMINATIONS are sought for the highest and most historic title a Tees council can bestow.
Hartlepool Borough Council has agreed to seek nominations for the Honorary Freeman title, which has been granted just 25 times in the last five decades.
Previous honoary feeman have inlcuded former Hartlepool MP Lord Mandelson and Hartlepool-born Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling.
Nominations must be submitted in writing to Gill Alexander, chief executive of Hartlepool council Friday, December 2.
