TALENTED young performers took to the stage to show off their skills in front of a packed house.

More than 50 students from Dyke House Sports & Technology College put on their ‘That’s Entertainment’ variety show at Hartlepool’s Town Hall Theatre.

The show was made up of 16 acts from including dance, acrobatics, singing and gymnastics, with each one designed to demonstrate the different styles.

It included performances from well-known West End shows such as Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, Ghost and Annie, among others, including a tribute to this month’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The school’s head of elite dance Lisa Wilson said: “The students were absolutely superb and were a credit to Dyke House.

“They thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing for the show and they didn’t disappoint when they got on that stage and performed for everyone.

“Every one of them worked really hard to make sure ‘That’s Entertainment’ was a success and they showed what incredible talent we have at Dyke House.”

The show included gymnasts who claimed a place in the national finals and there was also a special performance from 12-year-old Kyria Cooper, who performed in a special anniversary performance of Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London last year.
