A CHARITY golf day has raised an impressive £9,500 this year.
The Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Cllr Ken Dixon, hosted the fundraising event at Wynyard Golf Club last month, bringing together 38 teams competing for the top prize.
The event was held to raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charities Bowel Cancer UK, Butterwick Hospice and Meningitis Now.
Cllr Dixon said: “I am delighted at the amount of money raised and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved both in organising the event and to those who took part. Their effort and generosity is reflected in the spectacular figure generated for these charities who do so much to help people living across Stockton Borough.
“It was an extremely enjoyable way of supporting my nominated charities and raising awareness of the important and invaluable work they do to help others. I hope everyone enjoyed taking part in the golf event - congratulations to the team from Wynyard Hall on their victory.”
The winners were Geoff Walsh, Jim Hibbert and Rob Coulson from Wynyard Hall with Paul Mackings as their team captain.
