A SECONDARY school has been rated “good” in all areas following a recent inspection by Government inspectors after previously being rated as “requiring improvement.”

A team of five Ofsted inspectors visited High Tunstall College of Science last month, two years after the school received its former, poor rating.

In the report, lead inspector Tudor Griffiths, said: “This is a good school. The Headteacher, senior staff and governing body have a very clear and focused commitment to ensuring all pupils achieve well and are safe, secure and supported across the college.

The report went on to praise teaching at the specialist science college. “The management of teaching is effective. Lesson observations by college leaders lead to targeted and appropriate support and training that link well with whole-college priorities.”

The report, which has been sent out to all 961 parents and carers goes on to applaud students.

Headteacher Mark Tilling said: “This is a very pleasing report which reflects the quality of education provided at High Tunstall. The goal now is to strive for further improvement which I am confident we can achieve.”
