A MAN suspected of using drugs and driving has been arrested after police reported that a routine search of his car uncovered a knife stashed in the glove box.
Cleveland and Durham Road Policing Unit officers carried out a stop check of a vehicle that was being driven in the Owton Moor area of Hartlepool in the early hours of this morning (June 28).
A male driving the car was tested at the roadside and later arrested on suspicion of drug driving and possession of a bladed article.
The man was charged and released on bail ahead of a court date being set.
A police spokesman said: “If you have information regarding a drink or drug driver, contact us on 101 and report it. Alternatively report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
