HARTLEPOOL United Football Club insists it is business as usual after the club was the subject of a High Court Winding Up Order.
The club was this morning (Mon, June 27) listed for hearing in London over a petition brought by HM Revenue and Customs over an undisclosed tax debt.
Mr Registrar Stephen Baister, a leading insolvency judge, instantly dismissed the petition after being told by Catherine Addy counsel for Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs: “The debt and costs have been paid in full.”
It is understood that the delay in payment being made was due to a change in accountancy software used by the club and it’s owners, JPNG Ltd who took charge at Victoria Park 12 months ago last week.
Pools were last in the High Court in 1992 when the club, then controlled by chairman Garry Gibson, was hours from closing, but survived a winding-up order.
