THERE is an ideal opportunity for injured and retired players to make a comeback by taking part in a more sedate form of the game.
Two walking football sessions are being held at Brierton Sports Centre in Brierton Lane in Hartlepool later this month.
Organised by Hartlepool Council’s sport and physical activity team, they are open to both male and female players aged 16 and over and no previous experience is required.
The first on Thursday, May 12 will be held in the sports hall from 2-3pm and the second on Thursday May 19 will take place on the centre’s outdoor 3G pitch from 7-8pm.
Senior sport and physical activity co-ordinator Daniel Garthwaite said: “Walking football is a slow-paced version of the beautiful game which aims to get players back involved in the sport.
“It aims to help people maintain an active lifestyle long after their time in competitive football has come to an end and is also a chance for people to get back playing where they have had to stop due to injury.”
Each session costs £2 per person. For more information contact Daniel Garthwaite on 01429-523599 or daniel.garthwaite@hartlepool.gov.uk
