A 19-YEAR-OLD artist has had two of her illustrations exhibited alongside female artists from across the world at a London gallery.

Lucy Snowden, 19, from Hartlepool, has just completed her first her on an commercial illustration course at Cleveland College of Art and Design.

She has already made such an impression that she was invited by a London gallery to display two illustrations for the Hear Me Roar exhibition at theprintspace in London.

Ms Snowden explained that she was inspired by her love of animal art and fantasy designs to create a series of exotic dart frogs dressed in tribal wear in black and white. Her second, more colourful piece is called Flight and featured two 'Wyvern' Dragons.

The illustration exhibition, which showcased screen prints from international female artists, included a VIP opening night and was open to visitors during July.

Ms Snowden, who wants to be a book illustrator, said: “The invitation came about through CCAD and a guest lecture by leading illustrators Drew Millward and Dan Mumford. After they viewed my work the gallery asked me to create my own designs for the show."

With another two years of study, she is concentrating on her coursework, but considering a career in book illustration in the future.
