A 14-YEAR-OLD boy was assaulted after colliding with another cyclist. The boy was cycling in the rain along Wooler Road in Hartlepool on Saturday, August 22 when he collided with another cyclist at the junction of Elm Road between 7pm and 7.30pm.

Both came off their bikes and the man on the other bike became abusive and assaulted the boy by punching him several times in the face before riding off in the direction of Summerhill Road.

As a result of the assault the victim had bruising to the eye, but did not receive medical treatment.

The man was in his late 20s to early 30s, was wearing a high visibility jacket and was riding a black bike. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Julie Bell on the non-emergency 101 number.
